Emre Balik Turkey

mre Balık, MD is Professor of Surgery and Chair of the Department of General Surgery at Koç University School of Medicine, Istanbul, Turkey. He completed his surgical training at Istanbul University and a clinical research fellowship in colorectal surgery at Columbia University, New York. His clinical and research interests include colorectal cancer, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and anorectal physiology and inflammatory bowel disease. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed international journals and is actively involved in multicenter collaborative studies. Dr. Balık is an International Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) and board-certified by the European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP). He serves on the Board of the International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ISUCRS) as Vice Treasurer and is the current President of the Turkish Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery (2026–2028).
