Graduated in Medicine in the Federal University of Paraná. Postgraduate student in the Digestive System Surgery Service of the Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo under the leadership of Prof. Angelita Habr Gama. PhD in Digestive Tract Surgery from the University of São Paulo. Former President of the Brazilian Society of Coloproctology, where is the currently Coordinator of the Colorectal Cancer Prevention Committee. Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Hospital de Clínicas of the Federal University of Paraná. Head of the Coloproctology Service at the Hospital de Clínicas of the same University. Research activities focus on colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, colorectal surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, quality in colonoscopy, and medical education. Coordinator of the Research Ethics Committee on Human Beings at the Hospital de Clínicas Complex of the Federal University of Paraná.
