Dr. M. Iqbal Rivai, Sp.B, Subsp.BD(K), is a prominent Indonesian colorectal surgeon, recognized for his clinical excellence, academic leadership, and dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of digestive surgery. With over 370 laparoscopic colorectal procedures performed annually, he has established himself as a leading figure in colorectal surgery in Indonesia.   Driven by a strong passion for education and knowledge sharing, Dr. Iqbal actively contributes as a clinical educator and assistant lecturer at Universitas Andalas. He has mentored countless young surgeons and medical students, delivering lectures and hands-on training in colorectal and digestive surgery across national workshops and international symposia. His commitment to professional development is further reflected in his appointment as Head of the Scientific and Training Division of the Indonesian College of Surgeons (KIBI).   A dedicated researcher, Dr. Iqbal has authored numerous publications in high-impact medical journals, particularly focusing on colorectal cancer, gut microbiota, and hepatobiliary-pancreatic disorders. His research includes innovative studies on Lactococcus lactis in colorectal cancer prevention and liver function recovery, demonstrating a keen interest in translational medicine and evidence-based surgery.   Dr. Iqbal leadership extends beyond the academic and clinical setting. He currently serves as Vice President of the Indonesian Society of Coloproctology and as a Governing Council Member of the Asia Pacific Federation of Coloproctology.
