Dr. Pok Eng Hong is a fellowship-trained Upper GI and Bariatric Surgeon with expertise in esophageal and gastric cancer surgery, advanced laparoscopic procedures, and metabolic surgery. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 2001 and completed his Master of Surgery in 2009. He underwent advanced clinical fellowships in Upper GI and minimally invasive surgery, with additional specialized training at the National Cancer Centre in Japan and a bariatric and metabolic surgery fellowship in Taiwan. In 2015, Dr. Pok was awarded the prestigious Soudavar Memorial Fellowship in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, focusing on esophageal and gastric surgery A former senior lecturer and consultant surgeon at University Malaya Medical Centre, he has trained numerous undergraduate and postgraduate surgical trainees, especially in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Pok has a special interest in laparoscopic bariatric and metabolic surgery as a transformative solution for obesity and its complications, particularly Type 2 diabetes. He believes in delivering individualized, evidence-based care, integrating the latest technology to ensure optimal recovery and long-term health for his patients.
